How to incorporate matte black into your bathroom

We’re back in black for THE trend of 2019

The countdown is on to the start of the New Year and for many, it’s time to start thinking about what new trends you’re going to want to add to your home. Black may not be the first colour you think of when it comes to bathroom decor, but at Lusso Stone, we predict that matte black accessories will be THE thing to have in your home in 2019. With orders for our matte black range coming in from all over the world, we’re going to take a look at how you can incorporate black into your bathroom. From the colours to team it with, to the essential pieces you can add to your space to turn it into a cool, contemporary haven.

Hotel luxe with black and white contrasts

Black fixtures and fittings are one of the easiest ways to achieve that covetable ‘hotel luxe’ feel in your bathroom. Paired with white tiles and stone features, it creates a classic combination that exudes luxury. Wall mounted black taps and shower mixer tapes are a great way to get that instant hotel feel, offering a sleek contrast to a white basin or wet room.

Warm up your space with heritage features

Classic homes can also benefit from matte black bathroom fixtures, with black shower frames and fixtures offering a heritage feel to traditional properties. Whilst many see black as a modern, industrial choice, it can also be used as a way to highlight original features and accents. A freestanding stone bath with black taps paired with rich wood furnishings and a black shower frame will instantly add a heritage feel to your space, warming up an area that can often be swamped with sparse whites and neutrals.

All roads lead back to black

Black is one of the most versatile colours to add into a decor scheme, whether you choose to go with a monochrome feel or use black as an accent colour in a bright, bold space. We love seeing all the ways that our customers have incorporated our matte black fixtures into their home, especially when paired with our white stone baths. One of the biggest colour combinations for 2019 is white, black and gold. Using white as the main element of the space with black fixtures and gold accents, you can create an industrial style bathroom that still retains some warmth through the metallic hues. Even in small bathrooms, black can work! Choose black accents such as basic tapes against neutral walls with gold accents such as light fittings or artwork.

Black Bathroom Fixtures: Care and Maintenance

On a practical level, matte black fixtures are much easier to clean than their shiny counterparts. If you’re always polishing fixtures to get rid of fingerprints and scuff marks, switching to matte black will save you a lot of time. Beware though, black will show up toothpaste marks more clearly than white! Cheaper black taps and fittings may also lose their coatings over time, which is why we recommend opting for quality Lusso taps to ensure you enjoy them at their best for a long time. To clean matte black fixtures always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, some cleaning products may not be compatible so it’s best to check before you start scrubbing.
