Previously listed on the market for £400,000 with Myrings Estate Agents, the Luxe Hus project says it all in the name. This dream home located in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, has undergone a luxurious renovation that’s transformed it from a one-bedroom flat into a beautiful property consisting of two bedrooms, a master suite and an ensuite shower room. Read on as property agent Sophie Tillisch reveals all about her plans, inspirations and the final result of this lockdown home makeover.
Sophie purchased the Harrogate property in February 2020 during the birth of the pandemic, however the unprecedented events didn’t allow Luxe Hus to cut any corners, the final result is as beautiful as planned and situated within the affluent town of Harrogate, the property is perfectly fitting to its surroundings.
Can you give us some background on the property and your initial inspirations for its design?
“I completed the purchase just before we went into lockdown for the first time. I fell in love with the apartment from the first viewing, I saw the potential and had a vision for it straight away. I was able to negotiate a good price for it as it had been on the market for some time and had been dismissed by a lot of people as it was a one bedroom, one bathroom flat with a strange layout. I have completely re-configured it and have renovated the loft space to create what is there now – two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with the master suite having the dressing room and en-suite shower room. I wanted to make sure whoever bought it had a feel of luxury which is why I was keen to use Lusso having seen your products in a few hotels. I am addicted to looking at design ideas on social media and had quite a specific design vision which I was able to create using Lusso products.”
When designing the bathrooms, what was your main aim and where did you source inspiration?
“I wanted each of my bathrooms to feel luxurious and create an experience for anyone using them. I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels that have used Lusso and I wanted to re-create that hotel bathroom vibe for mine. As a property agent, I am fortunate enough to see lots of houses and see them finished to each level of specification, some amazing, some not so good! I guess my overall design inspiration has come from a collection of those visions and ultimately what I wanted. I love the matte black aesthetic but also the rose gold hardware, so I was able to use one in each of the bathrooms. I like a powerful, statement tile and was able to work with a friend of mine, Michelle, at Ceramic International to source the best ones for the space I had.”
What was it that made you choose Lusso?
“From the minute I saw the products on your website I fell for them, I found your website easy to use and a visionary which enabled me to easily picture what and where I wanted to use your products in my project. Having seen some of your products in hotel bathrooms I knew the quality was of a high specification and that’s exactly the look which I wanted to portray for mine without breaking the bank!”
How did you find the service when dealing with Lusso?
“Everyone on the team was really helpful, some of the items I had ordered initially were out of stock with lead times. The warehouse team and your customer service department were excellent at keeping in touch with me and posted updates as to when deliveries would be taking place. I appreciate that Covid meant these lead times were constantly changing but I was impressed that I was kept up to date and informed so I could organise the relevant trades on the project accordingly.”
What is your favourite Lusso product you have used in the apartment?
I have to admit it is hard to choose – personally for me, it is the gold hot water tap which is a bit of a luxury in my kitchen! Nothing like rolling out of bed on a morning to a fresh coffee in a matter of seconds! My property was marketed for sale by Myrings Estate Agents in Harrogate who were able to find a buyer within days of it coming to the market. They were able to get so many people through the door on the back of the design and all of those who viewed commented on how amazing the bathrooms are. To be honest, the bathrooms have the real wow factor and stand out from the crowd in a competitive sales market and all the feedback from people was that they loved them! From the freestanding rose gold bath tap to the floating vanity units, everything was heavily complimented.
